History
Duane O’Kane R.C.C. discovered A Course in Miracles in 1990, while mired in a deep depression triggered by a personal crisis in relationship. He found that nothing in his extensive psychological training and 25 years of clinical experience as a family counsellor could adequately address the pain he was in. It was at the peak of this experience that A Course In Miracles (ACIM) found its way into his hands. Precipitated by his work with ACIM, he opened to a revolutionary way of thinking and being that allows him to tap into the infinite joy available in every moment rather than reproduce pain from the past. He formulated his personal revelations into a pathway for others to follow and began teaching his first workshops. Clearmind was founded in 1990.
Catherine O’Kane M.A., R.C.C. discovered ACIM in 1990, and after a near death experience in 1994, became inspired to combine her psychotherapeutic training with a spiritual framework. Catherine was primed to discover Clearmind in Vancouver in 1995, and soon thereafter joined the organization and Duane in co-creating the programs and workshops offered. Duane and Catherine are married, and have found joy in sharing both a personal and global purpose.
Clearmind Vancouver is the home and flagship location of Clearmind International.
In 1998, there was a need to have a permanent environment that was conducive to the
quality of care in its programs. Clearmind International became incorporated, and purchased
a 16 acre retreat centre that has been undergoing gradual beautification ever since.
Our company continues to grow and evolve and to serve the other centres around the world.
